Daylon &
Lynda Hicks have been involved in missions since they surrendered
in 1967. They worked with African-Americans, both before and
after a seventeen-year ministry in Haiti. While in Haiti, Bro.
Hicks translated the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs into the
Haitian Creole language, as well as establishing local, indigenous
churches. Bro. Hicks has a Bachelors and Masters degree in
Ministry from Covington Theological Seminary, and Doctor of
Ministry from The American Baptist College and Seminary.
One
of their burdens in recent years, has been the lack of mission
personnel. |
|
Another burden is that
two-thirds of the world's population is closed to traditional
missions, either because the country is closed or ethnic groups are
closed to missions. These burdens directed them to start challenging
people to pray specifically for individual countries. They also
developed a prayer guide that
guides in praying for the entire world throughout the year. They
encourage people to print out the prayer guide and to use it to pray
for the world, so that the gospel may reach into all those thousands
of people groups around the world.
